The Sacrifices and Ceremonies of confecrating the Priests. 38 The continual Burnt-offering. 45 GOD's Promise to dwell among the Children of Ifrael. Ver. 1 A ND this is the Thing that thou SHALT do unto them to hallow them, to MINISTER to me in the PRIEST'S OFFICE: Take one young Bullock, and two Rams without Blemish, 2 And unleavened Bread, and Cakes unleavened, tempered with Oyl, and Wafers unleavened anointed with Oyl: of Wheaten Flour shalt thou make them. 3 And thou shalt put them into one Basket, and bring them in the Basket, with the Bullock and the two Rams. 4 And Aaron and his Sons thou shalt bring unto the Door of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and shalt wash them with Water. 5 And thou shalt take the Garments, and put upon Aaron the Coat, and the Robe of the Ephod, and the Ephod, and the Breast-plate, and gird him with the curious Girdle of the Ephod. 6 And thou shalt put the Mitre upon his Head, and put the holy Crown upon the Mitre. 7 Then shalt thou take the anointing Oyl, and pour it upon his Head, and anoint him. 8 And thou shalt bring his Sons, and put Coats upon them. 9 And thou shalt gird them with Girdles (Aaron and his Sons) and put the Bonnets on them: and the PRIEST'S OFFICE shall be theirs for a perpetual Statute : and thou shalt CONSECRATE AARON and his Sons. 10 h And thou shalt cause a Bullock to be brought before the Tabernacle of the Congregation: and Aaron and his Sons shall put their Hands upon the Head of the Bullock. h Heb. x. t For the Law having a SHADOW OF GOOD THINGS to come, and not the very IMAGE of the Things, can never with those Sacrifices which they offered Year by Year continually, make the Comers thereunto PER FECT. 2 For then would they not have stased to be offered because that it And thou shalt kill the Bullock before the LORD, by the Door of the Tabernacle of the Congregation. 12 And thou shalt take of the Blood of the Bullock, and put it upon the Horns of the Altar with thy Finger, and pour all the Blood beside the Bottom of the Altar. 15 Thou shalt also take one Ram, and Aaron and his Sons shall put their Hands upon the Head of the Ram. 16 And thou shalt flay the Ram, and thou shalt take his Blood, and sprinkle it round about upon the Altar. 19 And thou shalt take the other Ram, and Aaron and his Sons shall put their Hands upon the Head of the Ram. the Worshippers once PURGED, should have had no more CONSCIENCE of SINS. 3 But in those Sacrifices there is a Remembrance again made of Sins every Year. 4 For it is not possIBLE that the BLOOD OF BULLS and of GOATS should take away SINS. s Wherefore when HE COMETH into the World, he faith, Sacrifice and Offering thou wouldeft not, but a 6 In Burnt offerings and Sacrifice for Sin thou hast had no Pleasure. 7 Then faid I, Lo, I come (in the VOLUME of the Book it is written of me) to do thy WILL, O GOD 8 Above, when he said, Sacrifice and Offering, and Burnt offerings, and Offering for Sin, thou wouldest not, neither hadft Pleasure therein, (which are offered by the LawW;) 9 Then faid he, Lo, I come to do thy WILL, O God. IO By the which WILL We are SANCTIFIED; through the Offering of the BODY OF JESUS CHRIST ONCE. 20 Then shalt thou kill the Ram, and take of his Blood, and put it upon the Tip of the Right Ear of Aaron, and upon the Tip of the Right Ear of his Sons, and upon the Thumb of their Right Hand, and upon the Great Toe of their Right Foot, and sprinkle the Blood upon the Altar round about. 21 And thou shalt take of the Blood that is upon the Altar, and of the Anointing Oyl, and sprinkle it upon Aaron, and upon his Garments, and upon his Sons, and upon the Garments of his Sons with him and he shall be hallowed, and his Garments, and his Sons, and his Sons Garments with him. 36 And thou shalt offer every Day a Bullock for a Sinoffering, for Atonement: and thou shalt cleanse the Altar, when thou hast made an Atonement for it, and thou shalt anoint it to fanctify it. 38 Now this is that which thou shalt offer upon the Altar; two Lambs of the first Year, Day by Day continually. U 39 The 39 The one Lamb thou shalt offer in the Morning : and the other Lamb thou shalt offer at Even. 40 And with the one Lamb a Tenth-deal of Flour mingled with the Fourth part of an Hin of beaten Oyl: and the Fourth part of an Hin of Wine for a Drink-offering. 41 And the other Lamb thou shalt offer at Even, and shalt do thereto according to the Meat-offering of the Morning, and according to the Drink-offering thereof, for a sweet Savour, an Offering made by Fire unto the LORD. 42 This shall be a continual Burnt-offering throughout your Generations, at the Door of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, before the LORD: where I will meet you, to speak there unto thee. 43 And there I will meet with the Children of Ifrael, and the Tabernacle shall be SANCTIFIED by my GLORY. 44 And I will fanctify the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and the Altar: I will fanctify also both AARON and his Sons, to MINISTER to me in the PRIEST'S OFFICE. 45 And I will DWELL among the Children of Ifrael, and will be their Gon. 46 And they shall know that I am the LORD their GOD, that brought them forth out of the Land of Egypt, that I may DWELL amongst them: I am the Lord their GOD. and WALK in them, and I will be their 12 Cor. vi. 16 I will DWELL in them, God, and they shall be my PEOPLE. A I am the Lord that SANCTIFY them. Ver. 12 ND the LORD spake unto Mofes, faying, 13 Speak thou * Ezek. xx. 12 I gave them my unto the Children of Ifrael, SABBATHS, to be a Sign between me faying, Verily my SABBATHS and them, that they might know that ye shall keep: for it is a Sign between me and you, throughout your Generations; that ye may know that I Am the Lord that doth SANCTIFY you. 14 Ye shall keep the SABBATH therefore: for it is HOLY unto you. Every one that defileth it, shall surely be put to Death: for whosoever doth any Work therein, that Soul Thall be cut off from amongst his People. 15 Six Days may Work be done, but in the seventh is the SABBATH of Rest, Holy to the Lord: whosoever doth any Work in the SABBATH-DAY, he shall surely be put to Death. 15 Wherefore the Children of Ifrael shall KEEP the SABBATH, to observe the Sabbath throughout their Generations, for a perpetual Covenant. 17 It is a Sign between me and the Children of Ifrael for ever: for in fix Days the Lord made Heaven and Earth, and on the seventh Day he rested, and was refreshed. 18 And he gave unto Mofes, when he had made an End of communing with him upon Mount Sinai, two Tables of Testimony, Tables of Stone, written with the Finger of GOD. CHAP. ΧΧΧΙΙ. The People cause Aaron to make a Calf. 19 Moses breaketh the Tables. 25 The Idolaters flain. Ats vii. 37 This is that MOSES which faid unto the Children of Ifrael, A PROPHET shall the LORD your God raise up unto you of your Brethren like unto me: HIM shall ye HEAR. 38 This is he that was in the CHURCH in the Wilderness, with the ANGEL that spake to him in the Mount SNA, and with our Fathers: who received the LIVELY ORACLES to give unto us. 39 To whom our Fathers would Uz Land Land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. 2 And Aaron faid unto them, Break off the golden Ear-rings which are in the Ears of your Wives, of your Sons, and of your Daughters, and bring them unto me. 3 And all the People brake off the golden Ear-rings which were in their Ears, and brought them unto Aaron. not OBEY, but thruft him from them, and in their Hearts turned back again into Egypt, 40 Saying unto Aaron, Make us GODS to go before us: for as for this MOSES which brought us out of the Land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. 41 And they made a CALE in those Days, and offered Sacrifice unto the IDOL, and rejoyced in the WORKS of their own HANDS. 42 Then God turned, and gave them up to worthip the Host of Heaven; as it is written in the Book of the Prophets, O ye House of Ifrael, have ye offered to me flain Beafts, and Sacrifices, by the Space of forty Years in the Wilderness? 43 Yea, ye took up the Tabernacle of MOLOCH, and the Star of your God REMPHAN, FIGURES which ye made, to worship them and I will carry you away beyond BABYLON. 4 m IMAGE. 20 Thus they changed their GLORY into the Similitude of an Ox that eateth Grafs. m And he received them Pfal. cvi. 19 They made a CALE at their Hand, and fashion- in Horeb, and worshipped the molten ed it with a graving Tool, after he had made it a MOLTEN CALF: and they faid, These be thy GODS, O If rael, which brought thee up out of the Land of Egypt. 5 And when Aaron faw it, he built an Altar before it, and Aaron made Proclamation, and said, To-morow is a Feast to the LORD. 21 They forgat Gon their SAV JOUR, which had done great Things in Esypt: 22 WONDROUS WORKS in the Land of Ham, and TERRIBLE THINGS by the Red Sea. 23 Therefore he faid that he would destroy them, had not MOSES hs CHOSEN ftood before him in the Breach: to turn away his Wrath, left he should destroy them. 6 And they rose up early on the Morrow, and offered Burnt-offerings, and brought Peace-offerings and the People fat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play. 7 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Go get thee down: for thy People which thou broughtest out of the Land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves. 8 They have turned afide quickly out of the Way which I commanded them: they have made them a MOLTEN CALF, and have WORSHIPPED it, and have facrificed thereunto, and faid, these be thy GoDS, O Ifrael, which have brought thee up out of the Land of Egypt. 9 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, I have seen this People, and behold, it is a stiff-necked People. 10 Now therefore let me alone, that my Wrath may wax hot |
