IN the beginning of the reign of K. John, Hen. Deeclinton, grandfon to the founder, releafed to the king all his rights the calile, with the woods, pools, and whatfoever belonged thereto, excepting what he had in poffefiion at the death of Hen. II. And towards the latter end of his reign, that king caufed the cattle to be garrifoned and placed therein, for fafety, the prmce his fon; fending an experienced officer, named Ralph de Normanville, to command under Wm. De Cantalope his' fieward, then governor.
