Yes.

Secondly. I ask whether you firmly believe in your hearts, that Jesus Christ has come into the world to save sinners; and that all those who believe in him, do receive, by the knowledge of his salvation, the remission of their sins? Are you truly desirous to be delivered from them; and have you confidence in his declaration and promise that he will be merciful to such-forgive all their sins, and cleanse them from all their iniquities? Yes.

Thirdly. I ask, whether you are firmly resolved, from henceforth to submit yourselves to the gracious operations of the Holy Ghost-so that you may in future no more purposely and voluntarily offend against God; but may be enabled to hate and avoid sin in every shape, to put on the new man, and walk circumspectly before God? If this is the sincere intention and resolution of your hearts, announce it in the presence of God, by saying yes?

A form of Absolution.

PON this your confession now made, I, vant of my Lord and Master Jesus Christ, announce herewith, to all such of you as are truly penitent, who in your hearts believe on Jesus Christ l fully purpose a life of obedience and piety; the

forgiveness of sins, in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. For the Lord hath given power and commandment to his ministers to declare and pronounce to his people, being penitent, the absolution and remission of their sins. He pardoneth and absolveth all those who truly repent, and unfeignedly believe his holy gospel. Eut on the contrary, I pronounce to all such as remain impenitent, whether open offenders against God's laws, or hypocrites in his sight, that they still, notwithstanding all their confessions, stand chargeable before God with all their sins: for which, as his word declares, he will at the last day sentence them to eternal damnation; if, while the day of grace is prolonged unto them, they repent not, nor turn to him. God grant them true repentance unto life, for Christ's sake. Amen.

A hymn after this is announced; and after it is sung, the blessing is pronounced, and the service concluded.

ADMINISTRATION

DEARLY BELOVED,

A

S ye intend to come to the Holy Communion of the body and blood of our Saviour Jesus Christ, by receiving this holy Testament; my exhortation to you is,

First, That you would raise your hearts unto God in prayer, according to that perfect form which Christ gave his disciples; devoutly relying on the sure promise of God for the answer of your humble petitions.

Secondly, I exhort you, in the name of our Lord Jesus, that you draw near, in this sacred ordinance, in the lively exercise of faith; directing your full and grateful attention to those words of its institution, in which the blessed Redeemer grants us his body and blood, for the remission of sins. Come, and under the external symbols of bread and wine, receive the body and blood of Christ, for the nourishment of your souls; and as the assurance and pledge of your heavenly inheritance.

Consecration of the Elements.

LMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, who, of thy tender mercy, didst give thine only Son, Jesus Christ, to suffer death upon the cross for our redemption; who there made a full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice, oblation and satisfaction for the sins of the whole world; and did institute, and in his holy gospel command us to continue a perpetual memory of his precious death, until his coming again: hear us, O merciful Father, we most humbly beseech thee, and grant that we, receiving these thy creatures of bread and wine, according to thy Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ's holy institution, in remembrance of his death and passion, may be parta ker's of his most blessed body and blood, who, in the same night in which he was betrayed, took bread, ed when he had given thanks, he brake it and gave

it to his disciples, saying: "Take, eat, this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance

of me."

Likewise, after Supper, he took the cup; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying "Drink ye all of this; this cup is the New Testament in my blood; which was shed for you and for many; for the remission of sins. Do this, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me"

Let such of you now, as truly repent of your sins, believe in Jesus, and fully purpose a new life of obedience, draw near and receive the communion of the Lord's Supper.

Distribution of the Elements. When the Minister delivereth the bread, he shall say: ESUS said, "Take, eat; this my body which is given for you." May this preserve you in the true faith of his name unto everlasting life. Likewise, when he delivers the cup, he shall say: MAKE and drink-Jesus said:

"This is my

blood of the New Testament, which is shed for you and for many, for the remission of sins;" may this preserve you in the true faith of his name, unto everlasting life.

After the Communion, the Minister addresses the Congregation thus :

Min. Give thanks unto the Lord for he is good.

Min. We render thee our unfeigned acknowledg-. ments, most merciful God, that thou hast now, by the most salutary gift of thy own Son's most precious body and blood, permitted our souls to be abunantly refreshed; and pray thee, that henceforth, we may live a life of true faith and devotion; to the honour and glory of thy holy Name, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
