SERMON I. Seriousness in Religion indispensable
above all other Dispositions. Be ye therefore so-
ber, and watch unto prayer. 1 Pet. iv. 7.
SERMON IL Taste for Devotion. But the hour
cometh and now is, when the true worshippers
shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth;
for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God
is a spirit; and they that worship him, must wor-
ship him in spirit and in truth. John iv. 23, 24. 530
SERMON III. The Love of God. We love him, be-
canse he first loved us. John iv. 19.
SERMON IV. Meditating upon Religion.-Have I
not remembered thee in my bed; and thought
upon thee when I was waking? Psalm lxiii. 7. 536
SERMON V. Of the State after Death-Beloved,
how are we the sons of God; and it doth not yet
appear what we shall be; but we know that,
when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for
we shall see him as he is. 1 John iii. 2.
SERMON VL. On Purity of the Heart and Affec.
gas-Beloved, now are we the sons of God; and
it doth not yet appear what we shall be; but we
know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like
him: for we shall see him as he is. And every
man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself,
even as he is pure. 1 John iii. 2, 3.
SERMON VIL. Of the Doctrine of Conversion.-I
am not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to
repentance. Matthew ix. 13.

And he withdrew himself into the wilderness,
and prayed. Luke v. 16.
SERMON IX. On Filial Piety. And Joseph nou-
rished his father, and his brethren, and all his
father's household, with bread, according to their

tues, and more of our Sins. My sin is ever before

SERMON XV. John's Message to Jesus.-Now
when John had heard in prison the works of

can tell how oft he offendeth? O cleanse thou me
from my secret faults. Keep thy servant also

in an honest and good heart, having heard the
